The listing for this houseboat in the pontoon boat was $280. Upon calling they advised us that it was going to be upwards of $500 and that the website was incorrect.
The owner minimized this problem, but did admit, as we were leaving a day early, that the unit probably shouldn't have been rented. No refund offered. He did say we could have a free night the next time we came.
Not a resort. A trailer park on a lake. Exceptionally poorly maintained in every aspect. Very run down. No sewer!! Campers/trailers emptied by hand every few days and carried to holding tank at entrance. The smell is horrible.
She was extremely rude as she smoked a cigarette, blowing smoke in their faces and advised that the gentleman who was supposed to be preparing the boats had injured himself and would still not be in for sometime. They will have to wait.
At around 9:30am, the owners wife comes up behind my husband and father-in-law while they are fishing off off the dock with the nastiest tone and quips "what are you doing here?!" She accused them of "peeking in windows" as they were looking in the office type building to see if someone was working inside as no one was answering any doors.
My husband and fther in law wanted to spend the day fishing before he returned home also, we opted to go ahead and go through with the rental. We were advised we could come in early (earliest was 7 am) and go ahead and get the pontoon boat and go out on the lake and that the house but would be ready for us at around 1pm.
Please steer clear of these people. They will lie to you to get you to book with them and then try to force you to sticking to an agreement, when they did not fulfill any part of said agreement.
If you go, bring everything! Note no sewer, no cable, no wifi, no potable water. And pay cash. Don't count on your phone working either.
dont waste your money, they may be affordable but the trailers are to close to one another and they dont keep the place clean. Come look before staying.
After a large argument, they refunded all but about 10% of our $500 dollars and we went elsewhere.
We were promised a 5 th wheel, brand new. Everyone we spoke to there for eclipse was promised same thing, then told same story upon their arrival as to what it wasn't available. Not a single rental unit I saw was clean or properly maintained.
At that time, due to the rudeness and disrespect from the owner, we decided to go elsewhere. They had already ruined our fishing trip for the day. They then advised that they were not going to give her money back even though they did not fulfill what they had promised.
My family and I decided to make a weekend of renting a house boat and fishing out on the lake. On the website for this company, it's stated that they had houseboat rentals that were self driven.
The boats were worn out. I rented for 2 full days. 1st day came back at end of the day to fuel boat and was told Fuel pump quit working and staff would fuel the boat so I left. The next morning I checked the fuel and was told if I waited the staff could fill the boat will 5 gallon jugs or I could go to Mill Creeks fuel station so I went there and filled up it was 8 gallons of fuel and some oil roughly 30 bucks. We drove boat rest of the day and at the end of the day went to Mill Creek again and fueled the boat again 8 gallons and some oil around 30 bucks. I returned the boat and told the people there I filled the boat up with fuel they said great, and I left expecting no fuel charges. A week later a charge of 53 dollars showed I called explaining the situation and was told even though I had receipts that they would not return the money cause they have a record of filling it. I am by no means shady and would agree if it was even close to reasonable but there is no way, a 50HP pontoon could even burn close to that in one day 16 gallons of fuel plus the 50 dollars of fuel they say they put in impossible! Plus I could visually see it was full when I returned!! Scam, why is it it cost 30 dollars both times I filled it with oil but they are charging 50? Scamm!! Do not confuse Lakeside Marina and Resort with Lake Marion Resort and Marina!
We will be watching our credit card very carefully.
The gentleman who was the owner, eventually opened the door and said we could go and fish off the dock, as the person who is going to be getting the boat ready was not there yet.
First flush of toilet revealed poor maintenance. The odor drove us & everything we owned out at 1030 at night. Thankful our inlaws were there with their camper or we would have had to sleep in car. (August). No response to multiple calls. While re loading car, a resident offered to look at it. Bless her! While it did get better, the smell of raw sewage never left. It was again, at times, again, overwhelming.
Those three stick built units do exist, but were unavailable 8 months before our visit. They look nice, but your view? Water? Maintenance?
I will say, everyone we met, with only the exception of loud guy next door & drunken lady who fell off a seat and saw $$$$, everyone else was very nice. Even owner was polite. I didn't believe a word he said, but he was polite.
Upon arriving in the morning of our rental to pick up our pontoon boat, there was no one working at 8:00 am. My husband and father were there to fish, before the rest of the family arrived. They were unsure of where to go so, they were looking at different buildings to see which was the office.
We slept one night out of three in their camper. The smell, the filth, angry young man next door with blasting music...we braved the eclipse traffic rather than stay one day longer.
She proceeds to be nasty with them and tells them they are not allowed down on the dock, even though her husband had directed them down there.
We stayed for a period of time while my husband had work locally. While the lake is beautiful & several staff members were kind, the experience was off putting. The trailer we stayed in was roach infested upon arrival & we were told to just 'clean'. No amount of cleaning could help the bug infestation. The air unit did not work efficiently, & when the central heat broke it took two weeks before we were given a solution. Stove never worked & was told we just needed to scrub it down. Front door did not shut all the way. During Matthew scrap metal was propped up near one of our vehicles (our only available spot & thinking they would move it before the storm) only for the winds to have them crash onto it, scraping it up badly. No compensation was offered even when we saw FEMA being directed to record the damage. Water shut off for nearly a full day at a time without warning, an abundance of adult movies showing up randomly on the satellite tv dvr box for our child to run across. The place is a mess & a black mark on our South Carolina experience.
We went for eclipse. The camper we rented was filthy. We had to clean the air filter right off. Filth literally hanging down in our faces. Filter stiff with grease and dirt. Lost count of dead bugs that had been squashed in ceiling and left there by cleaner. Mattress thin, bedding stained. Blinds bent, broken, spattered, and greasy. This unit never should have been rented. It got worse.
